Maire and Walt on a bed of their first CapaBungas
50+ combined years in the wine industry we had drunk more than our fair share
of wine and eaten pounds and pounds of cheese. We’d used many wine accessories
and been dissatisfied with nearly all of them. What if there was a better way?
What if these accessories could be invented by a wine professional with inside
knowledge? Accessories that not only were functional but simple to use and
second to none? What if we took the snobbery out of wine and made these
products fun as well as functional?
- Reseal your wine
the product that started it all, is a reusable silicone cap that reseals a bottle
of wine after you remove the cork. It’s made to resemble the bungs used to seal
barrels during winemaking hence the name
- 'cap' that looks like a bung. Once you remove the cork and re-seal the
bottle with a CapaBunga®, it is liquid tight and the bottle can rest on its
side in the fridge or on a wine rack or even upside down without leaking. No
more jamming the cork back in the bottle, no more rearranging the fridge to fit
an open bottle in the door. CapaBunga® fits virtually every wine bottle.
was originally invented by two winery owners in Northern California’s Wine
Country for use on their own wine, Rua. The 2 pack Slogan line was released by
the company in late 2011. CapaBunga® holds a patent for their product.
- Reseal your sparkling wine or champagne
is a reusable silicone cap that reseals a bottle of sparkling wine once it is
opened. An adaptation of the original CapaBunga® it transforms a bottle of
sparkling wine into a screwcap bottle. The cap has a threaded insert that once
unscrewed from the base clips under the flange of the sparkling wine bottle,
the cap is then twisted down on top of this piece preserving the bubbles in
your Champagne or Sparkling wine for up to one week. CapaBubbles was released
in May 2014. Bubbles aren't just for celebrations any more
- Silicone wine glass identifiers
is a modern wine glass identifier ring that clings to a glass so it does not
slip off when you drink or clank when you swirl. You can also write on them
with a ballpoint pen and wipe off for reuse.
CapaBunga Complete - Stop, store, aerate, pour
For many years we'd used decanters to aerate our wines, an old traditional way to aerate a wine thereby helping it open up after some time in bottle. When aerators first came on the market we marveled at how quickly they aerated our wines but were surprised at how much they cost. We set out to change that. CapaBunga Complete slips on a bottle the same way a CapaBunga does, one side pours while the other aerates. The aeration occurs because of our unique design that causes a disturbance in the flow thereby creating a tumbling effect similar to how white water is created in a river.
Vault™ - Store your artisan cheese properly
Cheese Vault is a simple and reusable way to store your artisan cheese. Cheese
experts agree that the worst possible way to store your cheese is the way we
all do it – by wrapping it in plastic wrap.
Cheese needs to “breathe” and eliminate excess moisture to maintain its
flavor and delay molding just like in a cheese cave. The Cheese Vault is made
of food-grade silicone and features a bottom designed to wick away excess
moisture and a top that means any moisture that does collect on the interior
lid is directed away from the cheese. There is also a divider that can be used
to separate two smaller pieces of cheese, keeping each piece fresh and tasty
without mingling flavors. One of the sides is polished so the name and date can
be written for easy identification and erased and reused.
is ridiculously simple to use - just put the cheese inside, put the lid on top
and store in the refrigerator. If you wish to store cheese for an extended
period of time simply add a little water to keep the vault moist inside. Once
evaporated just replenish.
